The very first SHIROKUMA bear was applied onto the front panel of Hitachi's air conditioner back in 1959. With global warming posing a serious threat to the survival of the polar bear, this icon has symbolized Hitachi's enduring passion to global environmental conservation, as well as a “cool” partner for our air conditioner. Ever since then, SHIROKUMA kun has been with Hitachi's air conditioner for more than half a century, becoming a famous “Cooler” bear in Japan over generations.
